Inside Boughton Vol.5 – Employee Spotlight Series: Kevin Simon

Welcome to Volume 5 of our Q&A Employee Spotlight series, where we explore the personal and professional journeys of the exceptional people who form our workforce. This edition shines a spotlight on Kevin Simon, our Payroll Coordinator. Discover the passions and pursuits that define him outside work, and gain insight into his perspective on achieving success in his position.

Q: What does success look like in your role?

A: This is an easy answer. As a payroll coordinator, my primary responsibility is ensuring that everyone is paid accurately and on time. As long as there isn’t an angry mob waiting for me outside my office, I consider that a success.

Q: If you weren’t in the legal industry, what would be your dream job?

A: I’d pursue a role in sports media, perhaps as a writer or behind-the-scenes in broadcasting. Essentially, a position where I’m compensated to watch and talk about sports.

Q: What does a perfect Saturday for you look like?

A: A perfect Saturday for me would be a sunny day at the beach, grilling and enjoying some chilled beverages, followed by watching a Canucks playoff game at home (hey a guy can dream, can’t he?). Or it would be a sunny day at the racetrack, placing bets on horses and, winning, of course!

Q: What TV show/movie/podcast are you watching right now?

A: I recently finished watching ‘Ozark’ and am now eagerly awaiting the return of ‘Yellowstone’. I finally got around to watching Sons of Anarchy and I’m on the last season of that.

Q: What book made a lasting impact on your life?

A: The immediate answer would be the Bible. I had set a goal to read it from beginning to end, and I achieved that. Now, I’m currently on my second read-through. While I used to be an avid reader in the past, life took over and my reading habit waned. However, I’m working on rekindling that passion. Currently, I’m also delving into ‘Beauties: Hockey’s Greatest Untold Stories’
