Boughton Law Coronavirus response and preparedness

At Boughton, the health and safety of our clients and our people is paramount. We continue to closely monitor the progression of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the related guidance from Public Health authorities. At this time, business operations are not affected, and we have taken the additional step of advising our lawyers and staff to consider working remotely where possible & applicable. For clients with pre-scheduled on-site meetings, your lawyer will follow-up with any potential changes of time or venue that may be necessary. These steps are in addition to ongoing policies listed below:

– Limit/suspend all business travel

– Encourage lawyers and staff to limit personal travel and report any travel outside of Canada

– Limit client meetings and encourage video or teleconferencing where applicable.

– Updated health and illness policy regarding symptomatic employees or those who may have been exposed to COVID-19

Robust and effective technology solutions are available to lawyers and staff to allow for telecommuting as necessary. We are committed to ensuring continuous, secure access to client files and information for all remote lawyers and staff.Should further measures be required which impact business and facility operation, updated guidance will be issued.

Canadian health officials are indicating that it is prudent for both businesses and individuals to prepare for potential disruption as the situation evolves. For individuals, this includes considering the possibility of illness and home quarantine, and ensuring that additional non-perishable food and medication is on hand should that be the case. All non-essential travel to affected regions is discouraged and we advise everyone to disclose information about recent travel history or symptoms to the appropriate party.
