Claire Gibson

Associate

Claire Gibson is an associate in Boughton Law’s Corporate Practice Group, where she advises clients on a range of corporate matters. Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and equity transactions, with a particular focus on Indigenous equity ownership. She has worked on matters involving Federal and Provincial Indigenous Loan Guarantee Programs, and considerations for First Nations in securing financing.

Before joining Boughton Law, Claire practiced at a national law firm, where she gained experience in corporate governance, M&A, and regulatory frameworks affecting businesses and Indigenous organizations.

Claire earned her J.D. from Queen’s University and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2023.

Representative Transactions

Represented the partnership of 38 First Nations, Stonlasec8 Indigenous Alliance Limited Partnership, in their $736M acquisition of 12.5% equity in Enbridge’s Westcoast natural gas pipeline system (which is the 2,900 km pipeline system from Fort Nelson, B.C., to the Canada-U.S. border). This transaction included the first-ever Federal Loan Guarantee by the Government of Canada’s new Indigenous Loan Guarantee Program ($400M loan guarantee).
