Yana is an associate within Boughton’s Securities Law practice group. Yana assists public and private companies with a wide range of corporate, commercial and transactional matters, including financings, public offerings, private placements, stock exchange listings, mergers and acquisitions and corporate reorganizations. She also advises clients with respect to securities regulatory compliance, stock exchange matters and corporate governance.

Leveraging her experience as a business lawyer in Russia—before moving to Canada in 2013—Yana graduated with her J.D. from the University of Victoria, Faculty of Law. Prior to law school, Yana has founded and operated a business. While completing her J.D., Yana interned at the BC Securities Commission, where she assisted the Capital Markets, Derivatives and Fintech Regulation divisions. Yana also provided legal services to businesses with limited means at the UVic Law’s Business Law Clinic. These experiences help Yana understand and serve clients’ needs better.

Yana’s dedication to the legal profession extends beyond her role as an associate.  Yana currently serves as Chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s Law Students Section, and is a former founder and executive of the UVic LawTech Society.

Yana also speaks fluent Russian and Ukrainian.
