BC’s Aviation Industry Flying High

What better than to combine your legal practice with your passion for flying? For Vancouver litigation lawyer Gregg Rafter, this rings particularly true.

Gregg obtained his private pilot license in 1977 and up until recently was the owner of a light aircraft. What he enjoys about flying has been best summed up by Charles Lindbergh: “Science, freedom, beauty, adventure: what more could you ask of life?”

Naturally, Gregg translated his passion for flying into his practice as a lawyer by focusing on corporate and commercial dispute matters in the transportation industry. His key focus is the aviation industry in British Columbia, a thriving $2 billion industry that employs a workforce of 11,300.

To support and promote this industry, the BC Aviation Council (BCAC) was formed. Since its inception in 1938, the BCAC has contributed significantly to the development of aviation and aerospace policies and has acted as liaison with government and other regulators.

Gregg first became a Director of the BCAC in 2010 and was re-elected to another three-year term in April of 2014. He is currently the Chair of the Silver Wings Awards Committee. The annual Silver Wings Awards gala is a celebration of leading aviation professionals from across the province to recognize outstanding achievement and assist the future leaders in this field.

This year’s Silver Wings Awards ceremony is held on October 30th. Boughton Law is a proud sponsor of the event and we look forward to seeing you there. For further questions about the BCAC, please connect with Gregg or click here to buy tickets for the event.
