Hannah M. DeJong

Hannah practices in the areas of family law and commercial litigation. Having successfully represented clients in mediations, case conferences, chambers applications, appeal hearings, and trials in both Supreme and Provincial court, Hannah’s approach focuses on resolving disputes outside of court. Hannah is an accredited family law mediator in British Columbia, and offers remote mediations via Zoom.

Hannah obtained her law degree from Osgoode Hall at York University. As part of Pro Bono Students Canada’s Family Law Project, Hannah assisted self-represented litigants in filling out court forms and drafting affidavits at the busiest family courthouse in Canada. Hannah brings a special knowledge of innovation and access to justice to her practice, gained working for the Winkler Institute for Dispute Resolution as a Research Fellow.

As part of her commitment to making legal services more accessible, Hannah offers limited scope legal services for clients who represent themselves in court, mediation, or negotiation. These can include:

• Providing legal advice and coaching
• Providing legal research
• Calculating child or spousal support, or the division of family property
• Drafting court documents like claims, applications and affidavits
• Drafting letters or offers to settle
• Drafting contracts like separation agreements or cohabitation/marriage agreements
• Preparing for a court appearance, mediation, examination or trial
• Preparing desk order divorce documents

Outside of the office, Hannah is a busy mom who enjoys cycling, gardening, hiking, cooking, photography and artistic activities.
