Alan Yuen

Associate

Alan is a litigation and arbitration lawyer with a broad commercial litigation practice focusing on complex commercial, securities and transactional litigation, corporate governance disputes, shareholder litigation, and contractual disputes.

Alan also has experience advocating for clients in complex construction disputes involving major infrastructure, mining and industrial projects. He has appeared before the British Columbia Supreme Court as well as arbitral tribunals, administrative bodies, and regulatory authorities, including the Civil Resolution Tribunal and BC Securities Commission.

Prior to joining Boughton, Alan practiced at the Vancouver offices of two national firms.

  • Assisted an entertainment company in connection with its separation of its traditional studios business and the streaming and media business by way of British Columbia plan of arrangement, 2025 BCSC 1293.
  • Assisted a major global infrastructure firm with multi‑billion‑dollar litigation involving a municipal wastewater treatment project.
  • Acted as counsel to a fuel and logistics company defending claims by a competitor alleging inducement of breach of contract with regional customers.
  • Acted as arbitration counsel for a mining company in a $30 million domestic arbitration under ICC Rules.
  • Acted as arbitration counsel to an owner defending a $800 million ICC arbitration claim relating to construction of energy infrastructure.
  • Acted as counsel to a cannabis company in a contractual dispute involving an alleged breach of a $110 million share purchase agreement.
  • Acted as counsel to a production company defending negligence and breach of contract claims arising from a television home renovation project.
  • Successfully represented a commercial trucking sales and service company at trial in a dispute with a customer alleging negligence and workmanship defects, 2023 BCPC 309.
  • Assisted an energy infrastructure company in regulatory proceedings before a securities commission relating to a hostile takeover bid, including issues involving break fees and total return swaps.
